    Coralife Power center

    Hi,
I just bought a Coralife power center in order to control the lighting cycles for my tank. Evidently I'm a moron because I can't seem to set the proper cycle for the particular outlet.
There are 4 timer- controlled outlets(2 Daytime, 2 nighttime) and 7 cycles you can define.
Can anyone tell me how the 7 cycles map to the 4 outlets?
    i.e. Daytime 1 outlet = Cycle 1 & 2
    Daytime 2 outlet = Cycle 3 & 4
    Nighttime 1 outlet = Cycle 5 & 6
Of course the instructions that came with it don't specify the mapping for cycles to outlets.

I would either get ahold of Coralife, or the vendor you purchased it from. I myself have no experience with this product.

I have the same units but I may be wrong. I think the cycles operate the day and night outlets so that when the days are on, the nights are off and vice versa. The seven cycles simply allow you to have 7 different cycles such as each day being different. or different times during the same day. I do not believe it will control each outlet individual.

    Re: Coralife Power center

I agree with Tim. Although I don't believe I have your particular timer, I do have the dual timer by them that controls my "daylight", "actinics" and "moonlight".

You can set the specifically colored (yellow for daylight, blue for actinics and black for moonlight) outlets up to cycle at different times. However, that will not change specific outlets themselves. Only the "set" of outlets.

Such as my "daylight - yellow" outlets...I can set them up to turn on and off for so many cycles at 15 min apart. That is one timer.

My other timer controls both the actinics (blue) and moonlight (black) outlets. When one goes off, the other goes on. So it's setup so that when my actinic outlets are on (blue), the moonlight outlets (black) are off. So, as soon as the actinics (blue) shut off, then the moonlight (black) automatically go on (even if nothing is plugged into it).

See what I'm saying? Again, that's how my dual Coralife timer works. I would imagine it would work the same with your single. There are certain outlets that are on when the timer is "on" and certain outlets that are off when the timer is "off".

It sounds like, by your original post, that 2 of your outlets should go on when your timer is "on" (daytime) and two of them should go on when your timer is "off" (nighttime).

I looked at that timer on the Drs. website and it looks like 2 of your daylight or "on" timers are in yellow, 2 of your nighttime or "off" timers are in blue and the white outlets are "always on" and aren't associated with any type of timer.

Soooo...this means that when you set your timer to go "on", BOTH yellow outlets will be on/active and the blue ones will be off. When you set your timer to go "off", then BOTH blue outlets will be on/active and the yellow ones will be off.

Here are the instructions off the Drs. website...I'm guessing it's the same you have, but just in case it's not...

    Coralife Power Centers
    Instructions:
Push up timer-tabs (located at the edges of the timer-dial) toward the center of the dial to turn yellow outlets on and blue outlets off. Push the timer-tabs down to turn blue outlets on and yellow outlets off. Each timer-tab represents a 15-minute interval. The white outlets provide constant power controlled by the on/off switch. The on/off switch controls power to all outlets and the timer.
    Setting the Timer:
    1. Turn the manual control switch to the timer "ON" position.
    2. Set the current time of day by turning the timer-dial clockwise until the correct time faces the arrowhead.
    3. Set the times that you want the yellow and blue outlets to turn on and off by using the timer-tabs.
Manual Control: Bypass the timer by using the manual control switch. To activate the yellow outlets continuously, turn the switch to the yellow "ON" position. To activate the blue outlets continuously, turn the switch to the blue "ON" position.
    Day-night Timer Instructions:
    1. Turn the manual control switch to the timer "ON" position. Set the timer to the current time of day.
    2. Pick the time of day you want the daytime lights turned on and push timer-tabs up to turn on yellow outlets for daytime applications.
    3. Continue pushing the timer-tabs up until you reach the time of day that you want the daytime lights turned off.
    4. When the daytime timer is set, the nighttime timer is automatically set by leaving the remaining timer-tabs down to turn on the blue outlet.
    Warning:
Designed for indoor use only. This device should not be installed in wet or damp areas. If installed in a wet or damp area, this device must be plugged into a receptacle controlled by a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) breaker. Device must be properly connected to a grounded three-prong receptacle.

Anyway, I hope this helps you out some. Then again, maybe it just made it 10 times more confusing for ya. LOL
