Well, Geez, they ain't doin no good sittin on the chair!!!!

Is the city of Polson gonna give you a call when their lites go out?????

That is a nice looking setup. Now get it on that tank of yours and tell us some more. Is that the same bulb configuration as your other set, and you might as well tell us what that configuration is, OK?

Congrats!!!!

You should be able to grow anything with that set up, it looks like. Let's see them on the tank now!

Re: New Lights in ... FINALLY

Do you think you will have to move anything around in your tank, with the new lights? They are really bright!!!!
Also, what about heat issues in the summer, think you'll have a problem?

Re: New Lights in ... FINALLY

well in the winter the single 250w heater is constantly on and the temps swing from 78d in the morning to 80 right before lights go out (plus I ran my room heater at 72deg.) I dont anticipate any heating issues with these lights at the end of the day I can barely feel any heat in between lights and tank.
I think I'll be fine if I just shut off the heater.

I'm going to do a major and Final tank change to get some LR out of the middle (more room for corals.) I also need to glue the oregon Tort to a moveable rock. I was planning to do all the changes April 26th

Re: New Lights in ... FINALLY

with the lighting combinations available and heat and energy consumption I'm VERY glad I went with T-5s

Re: New Lights in ... FINALLY

Just had a thought here Kyle, what are the replacement costs going to be for these, and how many are you going to replace at one time?
According to my thoughts, you have 16 T5 bulbs correct?

16 x 25 = 400
The cost on the bulbs is approximate.

Re: New Lights in ... FINALLY

Hey Kyle, keep an eye on things, when I went to T5's I had bleaching issues on some corals. I had a Stylophora that was top dead center between 2 halides that was growing well, I went to T5 and I bleached the crap out of it, I almost lost the piece as a matter of fact. It is coming back nicely now that I have it on the deep gray sandbed. I may face some opposition here, but I think that T5's are actually brighter then halides over the tank. I know a halide is brighter in spots, but for consistant coverage, T5 is BETTER/BRIGHTER. You may be shocked with the difference, especially at the edges, I know I was.
