Ok, so I've decided on the 400's. Premium Aquatics has a PFO kit that I'm probably going to go with. It comes with a 12" perpendicular Reef-Flector. What's your thoughts on this reflector?

Sounds like a winner to me. That reflector is very good for situations where the much larger Spider-Lite reflector just doesn't fit. BTW, did you realize they carry that kit here: http://secure2.easyspace.com/www.reefland.com/shopping/ and the price is slightly less than the other place you mentioned, too. PFO products are drop-shipped directly from the factory. Just wanted to point that out since not everybody is aware of the products that are now available at Reefland.

Not to sound Rude but the Price @ PA is $335.80 , Reefland 335.00 for PFO 400watt Dual 65K Metal Halide Retro Kit , personally wouldnt cry over 80 cents , especially since Jason now Stocks alot of His lights in ballast in stock ..so imdiate shipping . I dont know what kinda delay would be involved with a Drop ship and it depends on how quick you want them Also how Come reefland doesnt sale the 400watt 10k Kit ?

Thanks Ninong,

Reefland says its an "EYE" ballast and Premium Aquatics does not. What's the difference? When I bought the PFO I currently have from Marine Depot, I had the choice of regular ballast, EYE, or HQI. I went with the regular ballast.

The PFO Eye ballast is the one specifically for the Iwasaki lamps. BTW, Reefland does carry either the 400w Eye or the 400w regular PFO ballasts. The 400w regular PFO ballasts are listed on the Build Your Own page and would be the ones to choose if you wanted to go with 400w 10,000K metal halide lamps (also available) and then you would need a reflector, either the perpendicular design or the parallel design.

If you want maximum PAR, go with the 400w 6500K Iwasaki lamps. But you will probably want to add some actinic supplementation with either VHO or PC actinics.

Premium Aquatics is an excellent place to do business. Just wanted to point out that Reefland does carry the products you are interested in in case you wanted to consider them. Marine Depot, another excellent online vendor, carries these same items. There are others too, but I think you get the point.

Ninong

P.S. - It looks like Reefland carries the PFO HQI ballasts for the 150w and 250w 10,000K HQI dbl-end lamps but I didn't see the 400w HQI ballast listed, which is what you would want for the 400w 20,000K HQI lamps. If you needed one, I'm sure they could order it for you.

Thanks for Clearing that up Ninong . I have always used Icecap and I was about to ask the same question ..as I am confused on selecting lighting since Ice cap doesnt make a 400 ballast

I just remembered that I currently have a PFO HORIZONTAL METAL HALIDE/POWER COMPACT FLUORESCENT PENDENT. This has a PFO parallel reflector in it. Maybe I should stick with the same reflector. What do you think?
