    Interpet Daylight Plus Fluorescent Tubes

    Hi Chaps
Any one heard of these?? "Interpet Daylight Plus Fluorescent Tubes"
It says on the box "Supplies light requirements for a broader range of plants and corals. Simulates tropical sunlight conditions. High 3180 lumen output for bright daylight effect."
Someone is selling boxes of 10 for $40, they are 26mm T8s
My intended use would be, 5 tubes, for a 180g FOWLR aquarium....
Can anyone advise as to the suitability of these lights for my application??
    Thanks in advance

Re: Interpet Daylight Plus Fluorescent Tubes

I did a quick search on Google and found this stockist who gives this description fro the light...

    "Interpet Marine Reflector Lamps
    Daylight Reflector Lamp

Reflector technology provides 30%+ more light

    10,000 K Reef lamp

Promotes the growth of corals and plants

High intensity 10,000 Kelvin reflector lamp, with a spectrum ideally suited to aid the growth of essential zooxanthellae required for healthy corals

The internal reflectors built into the lamps ensure all the light is focussed downwards into the aquarium, thus negating the need for an additional reflector

The Marine reflector lamp will also enhance the colours of marine fish and invertebrates.

Perfect for use with the Moonlight lamp, to provide a great appearance for any marine reef aquarium"

If I put 4 or 5 of these in my tank hood, would it take care of my lighting requirements??

Never heard of them myself. To be honest, the price is $4.00 per tube, and I am willing to bet that they would not be real good on a reef tank, but they may be OK for your application. JMHO

Re: Interpet Daylight Plus Fluorescent Tubes

Do you have a standard 6' long 180-gal tank? If so, why not use 6' long VHO fluorescents? Or even 5' long HO T5 fluorescents?

Why would you want to have to set up separate fixtures for these NO T8's when you can get individual tubes that are the length of your tank?

If you have a FOWLR tank, then the lighting doesn't have to be too strong. You could get by with two 6' VHO tubes or two 5' HO T5 tubes but I think at least three of either would be better.
