I just added my VHOs about an hour ago and my button polyps are now closed up is it because of the increased light levels from 4x40's to 4x110's?

Hi there! Whenever you change the intensity of your lighting system, you need to acclimate your tank to the new higher intensity lighting slowly. In an established system, this generally means reducing the photoperiod and then increasing it a little each day until you reach the full photoperiod you originally were at. If done slowly, the process should prove successful for all corals. Likewise, depending on the corals in your current system, you may need to relocate certain corals to lower areas in the tank if those corals are not as tolerant of higher intensity lighting. This is best researched in a good coral book. HTH
