I just got a couple of pendant lights, but I have no clue how to go about hanging them. Can anyone explain?

Do you intend hanging them from the ceiling? Did they come with steel hanging cables? Did the hanging cables come with fasteners of some sort to attach to the ceiling?
If you're going to hang them from the ceiling, it would be much better to anchor the hanging cables to solid wood, if possible. If not, you can use toggle bolts.
Exactly what pendants do you have? How much does each pendant weigh?

Thanks for reply.
Yes, I will hang from ceiling with cables and fasteners. They are Current Sundial, not sure of weight. So it sounds like I should anchor mounting plates to wood. Also, I guess I need to position exactly.
What are the dimensions of your tank?
Ninong is pretty spot on with his reply. I have thrown a 2x4 up to mount stuff like this before, would you be in a position to do the same?

Tank is 72g bow front. Yes I will put in 2x4's where the brackets will go. The joists in the ceiling are parallel to length of tank, so I need to run 4 blocks between the joists. I think that should do it. Hopefully I will have it straight so the lights will be where I want them over tank. Thanks again for the help.
I think you have got this under control, but when you get done, show us the pics!!!!![]()

According to the manufacturer, this fixture is too heavy for dry wall installation and must be attached to solid wood. Looks like it came with a very nice mounting kit and complete mounting instructions. If you don't have an owner's manual, then just follow that link.
