Icecap Ballast Question

Does anyone know if I can hang an Icecap 660 from a hook using one of the four holes at the corners of the ballast? This would mean that the ballast would hang vertically from a 2x4 of my stand.

My other alternative is to screw the heat sink into the 2x4 and lay the ballast flat on the heat sink. This would be more difficult though and I don't know if I can get to the back with enough room to screw the heat sink in.

Is there a problem with hanging the ballast?

There is no problem hanging the ballast vertically. I would strongly recommend using the heat sink. Mounting directly to a piece of wood does not allow proper heat distribution. It would work but by using the heat sink the ballast would operate cooler and give you longer problem free service.
