    Question T5 combos

    hi all,
I have a 90 gal tank and i was wondering about some different types of bulbs that i could use in my tank. i have been reading around a bit and found some combos. i have a six tube fixture that i'm looking at now and it comes with 3 10k bulbs and 3 465 nm blue bulbs. I would like to know if anyone has ever had a combination like this or similar and if it looked good. also, i would like to know the difference between the different actinic bulbs and the differences in benefits to corals and colors. (460 nm, 720nm, 760nm, etc.) i am a newbie with t5's so be gentle pls.
right now i have a ritteri
anemone, 3 cleaner shrimp, an ocellaris clown, and a blue hipppo tang. (i know, finding nemo, how original right? loli was forced into it by the gf. lol) anyways, the tank is 18' deep with about a 1' sand bed. also, any changes of a bulb or two in the bulb combo that is coming with the light that in anyone's opinion might help with color and the benefits to corals that will be coming soon(maybe a green star polyp) would be really appreciated.

    Re: T5 combos

I had a 90 gallon with a 6 bulb tek system fixture. It was great!

    3 10K T5's
3 antinic 420 (if I remember right) the lower the number the darker the "blue"
it took a little bit for my eyes to get used to it but the tank always looked great and I could grow anything I wanted in that tank.

    Highly recommend it!

looks very blue............... lol thanks charlie! great help! i think im gonna go with a 1:1 ratio of 10k's and actinics(2 460nm, 1 720) and then ill have a 20k t-12. what do you think about that?

    Re: T5 combos

How a tank looks is so subjective!!!!! You never know, you may ending up going opposite of that. Alot depends on whether the critters you have react well to your setup. The only thing you can do is go with that, and see what happens down the road. JMHO

3 and 3 are ok, if they too white for you then you can always shut the whites off. Make sure you get the 2 or 3 switch fixtures so you do not shut all the bulbs off at same time.
