If you don't have any other coral but mushrooms and leather ( softies) - you probably don't even need a MH lights period. BUT, since your setup has one already I doubt changing the Kelvin of the bulb is the problem- maybe just a new bulb is needed as the Spectrum shifts to the red when a bulb gets old which promotes algae growth. Also - if you just bought this tank - then is likely a "new" setup from the move and the nitrates/ ammonia,etc. are high and this algae growth is probably part of the normal "cycling". DO water changes weekly form RO/DI water source - get some reef cleaners, vacuum, pull off by hand what algae you can, and you should be fine in a few months. A Lawnmower Blenny may help as well.
