is it really worth the up grade
i'v got a 40 breeder that is 90% sps 10% softy. i'v got 2 250w 65k over it right know. so is it worth the up grade to 2 400w 65ks?
TIA Souk

well ive got one 400watt now. about to add another 400. do you like the 6500k's? i use a 10000k now im thinking about going 6500k because of the cost!
id say if your corals look good and all is well then why upgrade. but i have seen people with 250watt on one side and 400 on the other, they say the corals grow faster and bigger on the 400watt side! |

I would assume you're OK with the 250w, your tank is only 16" tall and if you have any substrate at all you're already getting excellent light penetration. Bill.

Thanks for the replys guys,
i was just thinking because 75% of the sps are wild heads and i thought that they weren't getting enough light. for an ex: one of my table that did have pink tips and lime green body, the tips turned to lime green also. well, i guess i'll sleep on it for a couple more nights. + it time to change my bulbs anyway.

on a 40 breeder you have plenty of light. The 400 are for taller tanks like 24" or so.

One major difference IMO is the color. The 400W 6500K color is a lot tougher to mask then the 6500K. If the color is ok with you, go for the 400W and acclimate slowly. IMO, you can never have enough light.

Do you have any pics of your 55 with the dual 400's? I am mulling over which MH's to add to my 55+ show, and I'd sure like to see some set-ups. |

Reinhold,
What are the dimensions of your tank? When I see the word "show" I think of tall and skinny |

You got it! I didn't know any better when I bought my FO tank at Pet Mega-Store, so I bought this cool looking Oceanic show tank. Measures 48" long X 24" deep X 12" wide. About 60 gallons. The narrowness makes aquascaping a challenge. |
