45 gallon how to decide on lighting?

I have a 45 gallon bow front tank im setting up. I already know i have to buy a new fixture but having a hard time figuring out what to buy. I have been looking at compact flourescents at about 140 to 150 watts and am concerned that is not enough light. So how much lighting do i need and can reflectors make up for some of that? Sorry kinda new at this

Do some looking into T5 lighting, and also do some research into what you want to do with your tank, before really deciding on lighting.
Power compacts are getting outdated and T5 is the way to go for you think.
