I think you may be surprised about T5 lighting. What are the dimensions of the tank you are talking about???
Here is a site that can tell you about lighting requirements for some corals, not real sure if it is working correctly?????

Hey gang. I'm looking at a fixture for my new 65gal reef that holds 4 T5 bulbs. It's going to go in my decently sized office but since I have a lock on my door, the door stays closed after hours so I don't want to go metal halide because of the heat factor. I have a vented tile in the ceiling but in an enclosed space I doubt a chiller would even be able to keep up with 2 metal halides.
Is there a webpage that shows which corals would do well under this type of lighting? I'm sure acropora and the like are out of the question but it'd be nice to know what I could keep with 4 T5s versus metal halides. (IE: I'd kinda like to know what I'm going to be missing out on!) Thanks for any help/ideas.

I bought a 65gal show tank. 36x18x24 so the depth is going to be an issue. I can put more light needy corals near the top but I've been out of the loop on corals for the last 15 years and I'm getting up to speed on the new lighting. Thanks for the input.
As a side note, to get more light from the T5 I'm considering going with 3 daylight bulbs (of a high quality) and one actinic. I think this will help with the overall lighting but the webpage you offered helps A LOT to know what I can consider and what I shouldn't even think about. Thanks again!
I honestly think that the T5 fixture you are looking at will do what you want it to. Depending on your rock structure, you can it to the point where the higher lite corals can be on top.
