Hi!! Yeah... I'm the new guy. I already have a 30 gallon tank, love it to death. I mean like too much? I even feed my fish a little more on Thanksgiving... okay enough of that.
I've been trying to persuade so many people to go to salt water tanks because no offense but fresh water is boring at least I think so.
Here's the main point, I'm thinking about getting my mom a new light system for her, I just gave her my extra 75 gallon laying around because I don't have room but she already has a CF 65W Per Bulb, Two 10k and Two Anticics. Thats only about 3.46 Watts per gallon. I believe its height rough estimate is about 21inches maybe a little more, I know its 48inches in length.

With that all in factor, is this light here from ebay good?

48" MH HQI 250 Watt 20000k Auqrium Reef Fixture PL 65W - eBay (item 280598291451 end time Jan-01-11 13:19:31 PST)

Or is that TOO much lighting, and would you trust off brands or main brands as much? There's so many opinions out there its unbelievable, one thing you think is wrong, the next day its wrong. With all that lighting its about 10.13 watts per gallon, more then the 3-5 ratio. I know she will want some softies but we'll be putting them low most likely cause I heard from this guy who just recently bought it, said it was too intense for his softies. Would it be for this type of light? Which is a bargain btw but then again is off brand the better decision.

With all this in mind, here's the main questions.
Would I be better off leaving what I have, or upgrading to that new light I'm thinking about getting?
If I do get this new light, would you trust this offbrand as much as main brand? Is there really that big of a difference especially since their UL Certified which is stated, and very good feedbacks.
Next question off the topic, my uncle is thinking about getting this for his 55g as well and what would this light do to his corals.

Sorry for so many questions and such a long question that is, but I just want my corals to be happy and not fried, also on a side note :P I know another question, maybe that light was too intense because of the UV? Can putting a UV screen help prevent your corals from frying? Or does a UV protection defeat the purpose of even having a high light.

Thanks a bunch, and I hope I don't get too criticized by you guru's out there
