48" power compact with pendant seperately on a 72" tank

i was wondering if its a ok idea to put a 48 " light on 2/3rds of a tank ( i think theres a brace at the point it would end) and use a single metal halide pendant for the remaining area of about 2 feet or will that cause issues with the power compact ie melting ect the light on my 48 " is a coralife powercompact set up with 4 powercompact bulbs ( 2 10k and 2 actinic ) its the version with the hexagonal moonlights ( 2 stoped working and you cant find the replacements anywhere waht a load of bs) so basicly the area lit by the halide should be able to grow montis and acros rite? or is my idea flawed?

I know that would be fine but how about the new LEDs . They would be more cost effective in the long run. Are all the bulbs working on the coralife unit?

the bulbs work but 2 of the 4 moonlite leds are not working. id love the new led's but i dont think i can afford it atm i think one brand i found the tubes with leds in them cost 180+ a bulb and 280 for the light itself that holds 8 tubes of the leds so thats really really expensive
