LED lighting forenough for a reef tank?

I'm going to be converting my 40 gallon FOWLR into a reef tank. I'm slowly gathering all the things i'll need from stronger powerheads to new lighting. I love the beauty of the LED and the fact that they run on less power and the bulbs last longer. My question is, would one of these strips be enough?: Marineland Reef Capable LED Lighting System 36-48"

I like many different kinds of corals from SPS to LPS so i was hoping someone would know if one of these lights would be enough for SPS, LPS, or both?

It says in the description that it is good for "soft corals". That leads me to believe that SPS's are out of the question, and LPS's a maybe. That's just based on what they publish.

yea and what they publish isn't always reliable because they want you to buy it lol. Hmmmmm....maybe T5 is the way to go to be sure. But the LED are just so sexy looking.

LED are not good enough yet in deeper tanks. your 40ga breeder tank is not that deep therefore, with enough rock to mount corals high in the water column you might be ok.

However, if you want fantastic eye-popping colors I would go with a metal halide.

Thanks for the reply's. I ended up going with an aquatic life t5 4 bulb unit with led moonlights. I hit what I wanted in the moonlighting, and the T5s are proven. Maybe I'll do LED when it's not in it's beta stages lol .
