Lighting Suggestions for a small tank

Does anyone have suggestions for a good LED light for a 12g nano? My PC's are just too hot and are using too much electricity during these hot summer days when my AC is blasting and I figure its a good alternative to a chiller, if I can reduce the temp of the lights, it will reduce the tank temp too, and save me money over the long run too.

So with all that, any suggestions? Somwhere in the 50-100$ area, this is a short term solution for the summer, not a long term thing, so keep that in mind friends! haha

Here is what I was thinking:

2 of these strips, alternating color:

I'm not really sure what the coverage should be for LEDs in that size tank, but you could give the guys at RapidLED.com a call and see what they suggest. They sell DIY kits and parts, and it's really good stuff. Quite a few members of my local reef club run their stuff, and we did a DIY build workshop with them a while back. I'm thinking this would be in your price range too, and you'd be getting 3 watt Cree diodes, which are about as good as it gets for penetrating power.

If you did decide to speak with them, please let us know what they recommend.

I use 3-.75Watt lunar blue-moon-glow lights. I have placed one in the back of the tank and two came in the canopy. I had to add to my Sbroad but was easy to do and I'm a girl. my tank is 71/2g
you could easily add 6 of them in different parts of the canopy if you feel up to doing something like this. I found that the back wasn't getting the full light. you could place them in key spots for best use.

    Hello,
If you would like to grow corals I have tested this fixture (AquaBeam 1000 Ultra) with an Apogee quantum meter with results equivalent to a 250W metal halide up to 12".
It would be much better than PC lighting and you would be able to keep almost any type coral with it. I doubt you would ever go back to PC lighting afterwards

    Regards,
