    55G light help please

    Hi all

as i'm starting to build up my FOWLR tank, the orginal lighting for such tanks are only 3 tubes T8 25W, so, i bought 2 extra tube T8 25W to fix them on the hood

    that will be 5 * T8 25W = 125W, is that fine to start?

    thanks

FYI , i found T5 36W at our LFS, but the problem is no ballast in my area can be found, therefore, i couldn't use them
and online would be very expensive due to shipping cost bad luck

You don't need lighting at all for a FOWLR. It's only for the benefit of you viewing pleasure. Unless you plan to keep corals, theres no reason for you to run that much power

    thanks all

well .. my target is clownfish with anemone.. i have been told that i need at least one year since the tank started to have a fish

so, any idea that 125W will be ok for small anemone? and is that truth i have to wait one year?

i like the clownfish to have their own houses

One year to have fish?? Nope, untrue. Once your cycle is done, you can add fish slowly, like your clowns. 125w for a 55g with a Anemone is not enough lighting. 4 T5-HO 54w lights, yes.

+1. no need to wait a year to add fish. Anemones are a different story. They require perfect water quality and a well matured system for best success. Give this article a read: Be A Host To Your Anemone | Reefland

umm .. it is mostly 50G , As I understood 125/50= 2.5W per G , which is within the range!!

correct me please, i don't want to start wrong, in addition, there is no space on the hood to add more lights .. only 5 tubes T8 25W

    thanks

Range for Anemones is starting from minimum of 4watts per gallon. But with the advent of LED's thats not entirely true for them.

Sure there is more room to add lights. T-5 are smaller than T-8. You can actually add more. And they are HO.
