    Marineland LED Reef Safe 18-24in

Anyone heard anything on these fixtures both positive or negative? Thinking about upgrading to it on my 20g FOWLR. Thoughts or comments?
    Best of luck,
    Matt

I use one over one of my fuges that has some shrooms and halimeda and both are healthy. For a fowlr it should be ok but maybe some others will chime in

Re: Marineland LED Reef Safe 18-24in

Picked up the 18-24in today and the fixture sits perfectly on my 20g. FOWLR tank so no corals to worry about. LFS seems very sure that corals can be kept under it but I am a bit skeptical. Price was right but I am not sure that I would gamble thousands of dollars worth of corals on it. Fish seem to enjoy the change from the PC lighting and I am very pleased. The fixture is not very wide, maybe 4 inches, which requires it to be positioned correctly to avoid dark spots.

Overall, I would say this is a fantastic light for FOWLR but I am not yet convinced that this light would allow corals to thrive. Anyone else have any opinions?
    Best of luck,
    Matt

I'm sure it would do fine with sorties and low light LPS. Might even support SPS if they're positioned near the top.

If you had to choose between a 250w MH or this fixture for a sebae which would you go with? Currently under 250w MH in my 72

    Reef Capable LED Lighting System
PAR on this are almost capable. At roughly 130 PAR at 12" below surface, I'd not put to many things at the very bottom. On your 72, your talking 18" deep right? Thats right at about 60 PAR. Myself, I'd use Halides, but you could use this one.

Yeah, I want to say 48x18x22 on the 72. The smaller tank is approximately 13.5in deep. Seems to be thriving in the 72 plus not ideal to throw an anemone in such a small (and relatively new ~4 months) tank. I think he will continue to roam the depths of the 72 for now lol. Thanks for the advice! Really appreciate it!
    Best of luck,

I'm keeping shrooms gsp and some zoas in my fuge under the marine led and surprisingly they are doing great with lots of growth. I think you could keep acans and some chalices under it too

Still not too experienced with reef tanks. Only FOWLR for about 5 years now. Started to venture into small nems. What do you think about the halides vs this fixture? Will the nem thrive under the Marineland LED lighting?

No comparison. Halides are way better
