Metal Halide on 60 gallon

Hey guys, I have a 60 gallon, (55 gallon but 6" taller) No coral, Yet. However, I talked to a lps who will sell me a used retro fit MH setup for $150
Its 2 250 watt MH bulbs. 500 Watts is way more than I want. Can I get by with just using one 250 watt over the center of my tank? They told me that MH only has a light span 2 feet wide..So would I have a 1ft dark area on each side of the tank? I dont mind it being a little darker on the corners of the tank...Can someone please give me a little more input on MH lighting?

You can get away with that, no problem. I only have 2 halide lights on a 8' tank, and don't have any dark spots. It really all depends on how high you install them over your tank. You should be ok there.

Thanks for the reply, and sorry for the delay....I decided to just buy bulbs for my Current power compact light...I dont want to go cheap on metal halide...So I'll just save some coins until I can afford a quality setup.
