Do I have too much light?? How long should I run them??

I have a 110g that is 18" deep and Im running 3-250w mh's and 4-96w pc's. Yup, thats 1134w. I have the pcs on for 13 hours and the mhs on for 10 hours. Its a new tank, done cycle with good levels, about 40lbs LR and 6 chromis. I would like to add soft and hard corals and more fish but am waiting to see how it all behaves.

Wow. I'd say yikes. Then yes. Just my opinion though. More than that. What's your electric bill like?

Sounds like a good start to a Reef to me. SPS gonna love the light in that tank, lemme tell you.
Looks as if you need a few more lbs of Live Rock. Your lighting schedule is sound, I'm guessing that the 13 hour pc lights are actinics. Looks good.

Correct. The 13 hours of PCs are actinics. I was going to get t5s but I got a good price on this hood so I figured Id run it for a few years and let the LED thing come down in price with the new tech. I dont want to fry any corals, but i'm thinking that I can even keep hard corals near the bottom of the tank to not be limited in how the reef can take shape.

Ya more LR coming, again all introductions are slow...I am buying all the livestock (rocks, corals, fish ) from someone who is taking apart their 90g and in a week or 2 I will have a bunch of stuff. Im sure I will have to go through another small cycle when I bring in the rest of the stuff but it should be almost undetectably small.

I'm going to use their live sand to cure some rock that Im making as well so it should be a good affordable investment.
