    350 watts 10K added.

I added a pair of 175 watt 10K Ushio bulbs,w/ Icecap ballasts, one on each side of my 400 watt Iwasaki. Put them all in a reflective hood as seen in the pic. 400 is off for the pic and 175,s can be seen on each side.

Not sure if you can attach more than one file to a post, so making three posts. This is with the two 10K,s on only.

    Looks great!

    Any heat build-up problems?

Did you have actinics before you added the 10K's?

No heat problems. Tank is downstairs, built into the wall. Light fixtures are not enclosed in a hood as they are behind the wall.

I ran the actinics before, but they had no effect on the 400 Iwasaki colour. Tried various tests with a 400 12K, plus normal output 65K bulbs. The 12K set-up never seemed to have enough par and the 65K Iwasaki, supplemented by normal output actinics was always to yellow for me.

I was going to add vho, but a friend was selling the pair of 175 watt bulbs w/Icecaps, so I added them instead. Nice colour now and lots of light,

The actinics are mainly for dawn/dusk, but do add a little to the overall pic.

Wattage total over the 48inch by 32 inch tank is now 910 watts.

    Hi Doug!

Personally, I find that for a pleasing color, the Ushio 175s don't need the actinic supplementation.

    Tank looks great Doug!

    Thanks Jeff.

They look so nice Scott, I may change my 400 from 65K to a 10K Ushio.
