Parallel reflectors

I bought PFO's Reeflectors (which are 12" when mounted perpendicular to the front of the tank) and 2 250w metal halides. Problem is, I can't figure out a way to add some actinics into my hood, since the tank is only 12" from front to back. So now I'm re-thinking my system (I'm still designing the hood.)

PFO also has some reflectors that run parallel to the tank and include space to have actinics. Will the parallels put as much light into the tank as the perpendiculars?

How many watts of actinics will I need to supplement 500 watts of metal halides?

Should I go with PC supplementation or VHO?

i just bought the 36inch pfo parallel reflector.. and hello sun shine. im using it for 2 400 mh and two 55 pc's.... too a couple hours to assemble but i thin it rocks.
