lighting coverage
You know those pre made hoods that have the MH bulbs on the ends of the fixture? I was thinking about getting a used one but was wondering if I would get a major shadow effect since the bulbs are so far apart?
thanks Andrew heres a pic |

my other option would be to get the retrofit kit and DIY something similar but out of wood.
thanks Andrew |

Andrew ~
That is an excellent fixture and well worth the money, IMO. SPASSE has that exact same fixture in the 6-ft length over his 180-gal tank and he loves it. That is the fixture that I would have gotten if I hadn't decided I wanted double-ended HQI lamps. You may be looking at a pic of the 3-ft length with two MH sockets??? Ninong ![]()

thanks ninong, unfortunately the one I am thinking about buying is not the ice cap one but is a different brand. So, you do not think I will have shadow on a 4 foot fixture with 2 X 250 iwasaki on each end of the fixture? It does not have the polished reflector in it, do you think I could retrofit it so it does? I am also going to attempt to retrofit in some power compacts instead of VHO. I may be able to find a PFO/ Ice cap one at MACNA, who knows.
thanks Andrew |
