need to cool MH ballasts in stand?

finally got my MH and pc lights in a canopy and on the tank,,,it's a Hamilton retro 2- 400 watt-10k's and 4- 55 watt actinics in a wood canopy. now to my question,,the ballasts are in the stand ,under the tank ,,i've noticed that they get pretty warm in use. figure on getting them off the stand bottom and putting them on a metal grate-type thing to help circulate the air around them,,,,also, can install a muffin fan to blow on them to cool them off (one left) sound like a good idea??would attaching a heat sink to them work out for the better??

Just place a fan in the stand to help circulate air through it will help. I have a honeywell 7 or 8" fan that sells for $12 at kmart that works really well and is very quite.
