Best way to hang MH

Hi everyone...

150G tank, 6' long I will use 2 400w MHs. Should I go with 2 pendants, or 2 bulbs in fixtures hanging, bulbs on their sides. The pendants will be easier to install, but which configuration will give me the best output?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, horizontally would give you the best ouput from the bulbs. So sideways is what you should try to obtain.

Yes best output would be horizontal. You can either buy or make a canopy for the tank. Make sure it is tall enough though, to prevent heat transfer from the bulbs to tank and also splash. Also with a canopy the light will be directed at the tank better.

I already have 1 250 and 1 400 MH 6500k bulbs hanging over my 30G horizontally, parallel with 2 55w actinic PCs.

I was just wondering if there was going to be much of a difference in output if I hang bulbs from pandants over the 150. It would be a lot easier, but as the case with most everything involving the hobby, that would be out of the question!!

Thanks!!

Scott
