It appears these two might work for 03 bulbs:
55186 MH 175W/U/MED/BDX M57 ED17 Medium E26 Clear Universal Enclosed Blue Deluxe 462 77 5000 70940 MH 175W/U/BDX M57 ED28 Mogul E39 Clear Universal Enclosed Blue Deluxe 462 77 5000 as the color spectum/ Dominant Wavelength appears to near what you want for an 03 type light.

70940 MH 175W/U/BDX M57 ED28 Mogul
E39 Clear Universal Enclosed Blue Deluxe 462 77 5000 this is the one that id be interested in,it has a mogul base.i have a 2x175 watt setup,a 400 watt, and an icecap 660 for my new 120.im thinking 400w iwasaki,4 110 w 50/50's,and two 175 w blue halides for dawn dusk.the halide comes on slow, where as the flourescents click right on.i think blue halides would simulate a sunrise awesome! |

You guys are talking about the "03" actinic bulbs as being 462 nm....thats not right...
The true actinic ("03") bulbs emit light at 420nm. The site says it is indeed a blue bulb but i dunno if it would flourence them?? I could be wrong since I really don't know much about light...but i DO know that the true actinics are at 420nm... ![]()

masta j youre right actinic 03 bulbs spectral peak is 420 nanometers.but 463 isnt that far off,and i beleive ive read that anywhere between 420-450 nanometers(narrowing the gap a bit more) is beneficial to corals.so i dont know, but im really curious
.aside form the numbers, how do they "look",thats what i want to know.ive already sent them an inquiry, and dont be surprised if you see some pics of em next week god help me im addicted![]() |
