IceCap Wiring
Hi All,
Well I just got my IceCap 660 Retro kit yesterday...tore into that thing like a kid at Christmas when I got home ![]() But I got stumped, where, or how, do the 3 wires from the power cord get attached to the ballast itself???? THere are three wires from the power cord but I do not see any "logical" way of wiring these to the thing that looks like a plug on the end of the ballast. Any thoughts?????? Thanks, CaptK |

They wire on the harnass side with all the rest of the wires. There will be black, white and green on that side if I remeber correct.
I think you pretty much have to have a harnass to use the IC's.

Hi Guys,
Ya one side has a plastic harness that plugs right into the ballast itself. This harness has like 17 or so wires coming out of it. It is on the other side, where I am assuming that the power gets plugged into, that has a similiar looking plug that is a lot smaller. The black power cord has a green, black, and white wire coming out of it. I am assuming that these wires somehow get plugged into this end on the ballast??????? Thanks, CaptK |

The power plug wires into the (molex?) harness. If you look at the wiring diagram, there whould be three wires left over after the light ends are all wired up (if you are running 4 lamps). There should be a white, green and black wire. Simply match up the colors, solder, butt splice or cap the wires (I recommend sealing them in silicon as well) and your ready to rock.

he he he he, he said "butt splice"
I am actually planning on using the ballast for 3x24" VHO's. So the 3 wires from the power plug actually go into the coresponding color wires that would be left over from wiring the bulbs??? Thanks, CaptK |

OK I think I got it now,
I just match the Black, White, & Green wires of the power cord to the matching colors of the wires from the ballast, OK got that solved. OK one more question With my 3 bulb set up I will have two purple wires left over. The instructions say to: "Independently tie off unused colored pairs of wires" I don't know why, but does that mean I cap/tie off each individual wire or does that mean I take any matching colored wires, twist them together, and cap/tie them together. Thanks for all the help!!! CaptK |

From IceCap:
Do not tie them together, cap them off individually as you may want them in the future. It sounded so clear when we first wrote it, but you're in good company for not being sure which way it was intended. Andy |
