Pre-made or build it yourself?
Build it yourself you can generally do it for around $150 per bulb (including med priced bulb), But you need to do everything from wiring the ballast to finding a case etc. Pre-made or semi-assembled (some assembly required) the PFO setup seems to be the best, for only about $20 more (again including med priced bulb). Check out marine depot.

I'm using a MagneTek Core and Coil Ballast. I've been using it for about a year and no problems. I went to Lowes a bought a 6x6 plastic elect. box to put in. The ballast lights a 175w 10k Blueline.
I also have a 250w Core and Coil on my 70 gal tank. I have been using it for almost 2 years with no problems. You should be able to find a ballast from a lighting store. Here are the # maybe this will help. MagneTek 1130-91R-500K Good Luck. |

Check this out, a 175w electronic ballast from Premium Aquatics, I've used the 150w with a HQI DE with great success, this ballast works great, a simple DIY wiring job is all it takes. http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...Code=Clearance
Later, Bill. |
