3" here too... They get some salt spray on them that I wipe off every week or two. Very minimal splash, though.

i was just going to mount them on the hood. but thats 11 inches up. so ill just get some blocks of wood and mount those to the hood then the lights
|

close as you can without geting wet=3" is good. they loose alot of par after 12"
