Try www.hosfelt.com They can be loud though so watch the CFm rating and the DB rating. I have 2 and they are fairly loud. You can also try Radio shack....I know lots of people that are using them. HTH
Just like the title...do any of you know where to find cheap cooling fans, or something that could act as a cooling fan?
Thanks

I'll second the hosfelt reco. However, when I tried to order a bunch of fans for some guys around Chicago they were out of most of the part #s we wanted, so I had to have the oper give me the specs of a bunch that they actually had in stock. Apparently, they pretty much carry overstocks or closeouts and once they sell out, that's it. Just an example: 4 3/8" fan, 108 cfm, 40db (not that loud, unless you listen to chamber music in the same room), 110VAC, plus plastic grill was about $13.50. Add your own cord ($2) with some 1/8" female slide terminals (don't buy their cord, you'll still have to splice in a cord/plug) and you're set. HTH, Bill.
i think the radio shack fans are some of the quietest.
thanks for all of the repies...
radioshack? you mean the computer fans?
How do you hook those up to an electrical source?
Steve
yes,i use two 4 inch "cooloing fans" from radioshack.there are two wires already coming from the fan just buy a plug, wire it up,and youre all set.
You have to get the 120vac fans, not the 12vdc fans which run off of a computer power supply.
I had the hosfelts, they work, but it sounded like 2 turboprops in my living room.
I no longer use any fans. I have a pc of 3/16 tempared glass under my canopy and good vent holes drilled in the back and top of the canopy. This allows natural convection of the air thru the holes. My tank temp only raises 2.5 degs with (2)250w HQI's and (1)150w HQI and (2) NO 40w actinics.

Timing has an awful lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
