Spider light height above tank

I think I remember that the spider lights were to be mounted at least 8" above the water for max coverage.

Where are you supposed to measure from? mounting holes to water or bottom of bulb to water?

How high do most people mount them? How high is the bottom of your bulb off of the water?

the spider lights are supposed to be mounted 8" from the bottom of the reflector in order for it to cover a 2' span.this would put youre bulb about 12 inches from the water.i think most people have thier bulbs at 8-10 inches from the water, mine are close to ten.
