want to add MH
My current system is a 48x24x24 tank with 6 VHO's, 2 are super actinic which lay on the 4" glass bracing which goes across the 24" width at 15" from one side to accomodate the skimmer box and 7" from the other side. That puts the lights several inches aboe the waterline. There is not a canopy but the wood trim around the top of the tank extends about 7.5" above the waterline. There is a 3 piece top that I typically don't use. I have great access to the entire top of the tank with a step ladder on one side and the stairs to the second floor of our house on the other side. I would like to add MH and wanted some ideas as to how to what to use and how to configure with the VHO's how many VHO's do I keep and what and how would I add in the way of MH? Thanks!

Hi seado
First off I would say that the best MH for your situation would be probably be a couple of 250w Iwasakis (they seem to be the most effecient and have the best par in their class) and keep 2-4 of your VHO's in there, but make them all 03's, as far as adding them into your setup w/out interfering with your access to above the tank you can put your lights on a section that hinges up, or you can put a couple of "Eye bolts" in the ceiling and hang them from chains.
