Lighting a 120
I'm looking into getting another tank very soon. A 120 oceanic 48X24X24. The corals will be some LPS and softies plus some clams (deresa, squamosa maybe a maxima). What would be the best vho lighting for this set up? I was thinking 4 4ft vho's 2 actinic,2 actinic white. What would you recommend?

That's not very much light over a 120g. You might want to consider what I am doing (see my thread below) or at least more VHO or PC bulbs. Some of the low light stuff would be ok under 4 VHO bulbs but this hobby is addicting and you will probably end up adding more light down the road IMO.

Just to give you a frame of reference, I have the setup you want on my 60.
![]() 4x110 watt VHO's and 2x55 pcs If you plan on keeping sps and as you mentioned...a maxima, that lighting would not be sufficient. Add some MH in there ![]() Jason.

I have a 120g tank with dual 250's HQI pendants and a 400w Ushio on HQI ballast over the center brace. I think for the corals/clams that you want, you would be very well served with the 250w double-ended bulbs on HQI ballasts. These provide for a nice color and decent light.
You can supplement them with a couple VHO actinics for dawn/dusk simulation. Nanook
