    Q for light techies...

Are URI AquaSun lamps full spectrum? I see them advertised as "wide" spectrum. I absolutely love GE Chroma 50's (NO) for a full spectrum lamp, so here are my questions: 1) Will my Icecap 430 drive four (or more?) 40 watt chroma 50's? 2) What sort of output might I get from the lamps? 3) Might this be a better choice than running two 160w 6' AquaSun lamps? It's a six foot 125 that has become less reef than it is fowlr, encrusting corals and macroalgaes. It may become seahorse lagoon very shortly. The 2-250 Iwasaki's are dead and I am thinking of taking out the URI actinics and going with full spectrum fluorescents only. Any thoughts?

    Hi David,

Yes, the URI Aquasun fluorescents would be considered full spectrum. I am not familiar with the GE chroma lamps. An Ice Cap 430 ballast will not drive four 40w fluorescent lamps... the maximum number of 4-ft fluorescent lamps (NO, HO or VHO) that it will run is 3. http://www.icecapinc.com/apptab.htm
