ushio bulbs on pfo ballast

I just received a dual 175w pfo ballast and two 10000k ushio bulbs. I was testing them to see if they were all in working order. The bulbs seem to be miss-firing and when they do turn on at the same time, they tend to take a while for them to fully go on. Is this common, should I be doing something special? I have not mounted them yet, so I have only waited a couple of minutes to see if they would kick on. Any advice for a rookie?

I use Ushio bulbs (double ended HQI's) and a dual PFO ballast (HQI) I'm guessing your ballast is a PFO standard ballast?

Mine take about 5 minutes to come up to full power.

Thanks for the info, I tried it again and they fired up ok! But like you mentioned, they take a while to get going.
