Coralife VHO Bulbs
Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know how good the Coralife VHO bulbs are say compared to the URI HO bulbs? URI only has a choice of 3 different types of VHO bulb colors where Coralife has a few more options. Thanks, CaptK |

We ran a VHO-only system for a while, starting out with URIs, then got some Coralifes in town. The corals didn't like them- polyp extension was less, and just looked less healthy. I'm not going to use anything other than URI in the future!!

one more thing...
I think the Coralifes we used were their 10000 K. I'm not sure how good their actinics are, but one thing to consider is than the URI bulbs have an internal reflector, so if you don't have one or it isn't that reflective, you'll be getting that much more light from URI.
What type of a system are you running? Are you supplementing MH, or are VHO the only thing you're using? If it's only VHO, then I'd recommend 1 Aquasun: 1 Super Actinic. The actinic whites have less PAR than the Aquasuns, and I like the actinic for coral fluorescence. If you're running 4 bulbs, you might even use 1 actinic, and then a mix of Aquasun/actinic white for the other 3 bulbs. JMO!! |

This doesn't really answer your question, but I run Coralife actinics because I like the color better than the URI bulbs. I haven't tried the other Coralife options, but my URI bulbs work great. JMO
