I just finished my hood w/lights, and I am setting up the fans; the retailer who sold the ushio halide bulbs said not to have the fans blow over the bulbs, because it would affect their performance. The guy who sold me my hood, who also sells lighting kits said to point one fan into the hood, and one blowing air out. The hood is also ventilated in the back. What is your experience???
Thanks |

Well there are a couple ways to set the fans up. The two best in my opinion are the push/pull, and the passive intake. Th push pull seemed to work really for my last tank, but nice passive intake with a couple good fans on the opposite side would do a good job too.
As for the fans and the MH lamps, as long as its not a Double ended lamp, and doesn't have large amounts of air blowing directly on it, there should be no problems. -Perry |

Thanks for the input, the fans are placed on each end of the hood, they are Icecap 4" variable speed, and since the bulbs are not double ended, I take it the push and pull method should be OK?

Hi Marco!
Yeah the in/out method will be fine at ventilating the hood and keeping things cool. I don't think you'll need to worry about bulb peformance.
The Ushio's are great! Can't wait to see some pics. ![]() Scott Z. |
