    Lighting Change

    Hello All,

I am uprgading the lighting in my 55. I currently have 2 - 55W PC's and a 5100 NO actinic. I purchased a Custom Sea Life MH/PC combo. 2MH's and 2PC's. I did the 10000K upgrade. It was $610, is that a deal? My question is can I just add it and turn on the lights or should I increase the lighting in increments? Don't want the kids to get a sunburn!

    Thanks,
Yeah, I know, no flowerpot corals. :>)

you defininatly need to acclimate to the new lights. There are two ways to do this.
cut down on the photo period and increase slowly. Real slow since you're really going up in wattage.
Hang your lights high and slowly lower then over a long period.

I don't know the advantages of one over the other. I'm sure someone with more experiance will explain one over the other.
