I have a 130XH Tank. It's basically 36x24x36H. What type of animals (corals, etc) can I support with my current 2x96watt PC 10k bulbs. If I added a third would it make a difference?
I'm mainly looking to keep xenia and mushrooms and maybe something else that will thrive. (and fish of course) Thanks, Ryan |

Hi Ryan,
Wel, I replied already, but it didn't post? Owe well. Basically what I wrote is that you have a very tall tak which makes it hard to get real useful light from linear sources like PCs and VHO. A MH with the correct luminaire will have much better penetration, and will get more usable light to the coral. With the lighting you have, you may be able to keep something like mushrooms alive, but not too much else. Even with the addition of another PC, you are going to be lacking in the penetration needed ofr much else. I know, not really what you want to hear, and I'm sorry bout that, but I have to be candid. I feel that a nice 250w Iwasaki setup would really benfit your tank, and would drastically increase the type/variety of coral you could keep. Depending on the type of hood you have, you could use something like this to achieve some good light. http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...gory_Code=PFOr -Perry |

Well i kind of thought that would be the case. When I originally purchased this tank a couple years ago I knew that would be a limited factor. Just trying to spice it up, previously I've done FOWLR.
I'm resetting it back up from recently moving. check out my attachment and let me know what you think of my aquascaping. Got some new live rock trying to pile it in such a way that it looks interesting. Not sure what to try. Kind of looks like a pile. Thanks Ryan |
