Pc or vho

setting up a prop tank and was thinking of going with two 96 watt pc. Also got a suggestion about going with vhos. Heard they last longer and burn brighter. Would like to know people's experience with vhos and if they do perform better then pcs.

vhos look better, last longer, and are cheaper to replace.

I agree 100% that the VHO's are nicer. I had pc's on my first reef and it was nice but i much prefer my vho's. Don't skimp or you could always just get both and use the pc's for actinics. I've considered the same thing but i don't know if i will. I got a feeling my pc's will just collect dust. PC's are nice don't get me wrong but for my meens I like my vho's especially because they were a kit that was already built where as my pc's are diy and well.....never put them in a hood or anything. I've used both and combo of the two on the same tank. VHO is a better deal all the way around IMO.

I'm kind of late on this, but I'd go VHO. I have had two tanks one running actinic 03 blue PC and the other Actinic blue VHO and I like the VHOs better. It just seems brighter. And also, the price of the bulbs are a bit cheaper.
