MH Ballasts from Marinedepot with 10k German?
I still have the magnetic ballasts from the kits I purchased from marinedepot.com. The kits came with the 250 watt Iwasaki lamps. Now with the ballasts set working for the 250 watt Iwasakis, can I just stick a 10k bulb in there and not have to rewire? Everythign is in a box already.
Thanks - Ilham ![]() |

Well this really depends on the ballast that they sold you. Is it exclusively an EYE ballast for Iwasakis or a standard MH ballast?
You have to call them and ask. |

As dattack mentioned, it depends on if it's EYE or standard.
Marine depot sells PFO 250 standard and 250 EYE -- I bought the 250 standard and I'm using german 10ks. |

Elmo, does it give an ANSI designation number on the ballast? Is there a manufacturer? If it says H37 on there, then its a Mercury Vapor ballast, and should only be used for MV lamps. If it is an M58, or unlikely an M138, then it should work just fine for the USHIO, or AB 10k.
H is the ANSI designator for MV M is the designator for MH -Perry |

Thanks for the replies. I will take a look tomorrow morning to see the maker of the ballasts. Just from memory I believe they are Advance ballasts.
I'll check and repost. - Elmo ![]() |
