Diamond reflectors?
Anybody have used this type of reflector on their setups? I asked because it appears that Sanjay only uses 4x400W MH on a 500 gallon setup at Penn State. And looking at his photos, it seems that using 10K bulbs (USHIO) without actinics, the corals look outstanding.
http://atlantisaquatic.com/penn_state.html The only downside to this is that the reflectors seem to cost $$$. I found one where it cost $100 for a reflector. Any comments? http://www.ecogrow.com/reflectors.html http://atlantisaquatic.com/images/ps...ors_down_1.jpg http://atlantisaquatic.com/penn_state.html ![]() |

Dattack,
I ordered one of these reflectors a little over a year ago. However, it is currently collecting dust. One of the reasons why I haven't used it yet is that it has a very large footprint and wouldn't fit into the custom hood I was making at the time. It seems like a decent reflector, but a couple of other impressions are: - It's interior wasn't as shiny or reflective as I thought it would be - It also had a fewer number of flat surfaces or planes than I thought it would + It is very light-weight - The hole where the socket assembly fits in from the top is quite large and would require some additional sheet metal to properly enclose. This probabaly makes this sound like more of poorer choice than it really is...I think in my case it just isn't a good fit for my setup. If you have a very large tank with more than 2+ feet of depth (front to back), thank this may be a good choice though. HTH, Greg D |

Thanks for the response. I guess it won't fit to what I need then.
