Welcome to Reefland!
I am opting for the 250w HQI personally. I think both the Iwasaki and HQI provide light for good growth of SPS and personally, I like the coloration of HQI better, hence the reason I decided to go with them.

Can someone help me choose the correct lights. I going to set up a 55 gal. corner tank and I don't know what type of metal halide to use. I plan on keeping a couple of sps and clams. I have a 175watt ushio bulb and ballast laying around but don't feel as if it is enough light. I was thinking of either a 250w iwaski or the 250w hqi's. I would appreciate any comments and recommendations. Thanks.

I think both are great choices. The HQI is a bit more $ off the start, but most people like them over the EYE lamps (Iwasaki) because of the coloration.

The 175 should be OK. Use it as you already have it. If you don't like the look move up to a 250W. I ran a 175W 10,000K with 4 110W VHO's for 5 years on a 90 gal. With many SPS, LPS, and soft corals.
