Hi LzySupplication!
I am curious what made you change to VHO from the MH? What did you do with the PC's?

Well I had always used 2 110watt v.h.o. actinics due to the fact that the p.c. actinics just never looked good to me. I had a 55 gallon shroom tank only which had 1 -110actinic and 1 -110 white actinic v.h.o. and loved the look of the tank. So when i decided to trade off my hard corals and combine the 55 and 75 together into one reef I felt this was a good chance to go strictly v.h.o. I am still a fan of halides in fact I am keeping the retro kit for when i upgrade to a 150 gallon soon(never soon enough though). But in the past month I have grown accustomed to the v.h.o. only look. The corals have reacted very well to the change. As far as the p.c.'s they are built into the halide retro kit but doubt i will ever use them again. I think I will always use v.h.o. from now on to suppliment the halides (IF NEEDED)

Update
Well some things just are not meant to be. Today i set my Halides up again on my 75 gallon softy and clam tank. Reason- one of my v.h.o. 's wont fire, it isnt the bulb its something else. So anyhow not gonna try to run it with only 330watts . Although I did like the look of the v.h.o. only setup, now that I have the halides back up, they are there to stay. I really do like them to much. Just didnt realize till they hadnt been there in a while.

For me, the halides are choice for intensity and the "shimmer" lines the directive light provides. I believe that other lighting systems (VHO and PC) can sustain a healthy environment but just do not provide the natural look we are all striving for.
