parking lot metal halides

Do metal halides that are out of a parking lot lamp work over an aquarium. An old safeway store gave three of the lamps and ballast from their old posts they already work when plugged into the wall but I don't know if the are the right K.

Thanks Jeff

The ballast should be great to use with Iwasaki's though right? The MV ballast are preferred for them I beleive.

Jeff the ballat should have and ANSI designation on it. The most common ones seen are Sxx, Mxx, and Hxx. The xx's are numbers which normally represent the wattage/model of the ballast.

Take a look to see if these are there. S=High Pressure Sodium M=Metal Halide, and H = Mercury (Hg) vapor.

Let us know if it says anythign and we'll sort out the specifics.

Regards,

Perry
