2x250 MH's too much for my 25 gallon?

I just got one of those 15000k 250 MH from www.hellolights.com and man is it a bad ass color I like it alot better than my Iwasaki I was running my question is this..
I am currently running one 250watt mh on my 25 gallon reef. It runs for I think 11hours a day give or take a half hour.. I am running the 15000k bulb all the time now. I just installed it yesterday, But what Iam wondering is would it be too much light if I was to also run another 250watt Mh with an Iwasaki for say 2 hours during the middle of the day- Would that be too much light?? I already have one 4" pulling air out of the hood on the side and plan on installing another 4" blowing air through to the other side if I do hook up the other MH.

Now heres the tank setup--Mostly I want to do this to get more light to my Anenome(Heteractis Crispa) the 15000k color is awesome but definately not as much light as the iwasaki..
The tank is a 25 gallon with about a extremally matured and diverse 4" DSB about 50+ of LR. The tanks consists of one female tomatoe clown and one algae blenny along with some snails, bristle worms, a few blue leg hermits. the corals are mostly softies and some lps and one large 3 year old Heteractis crispa (Sebae Anemone). Circulation is provided by two maxijets 1200's and one Powersweep 228( I know they suck but the big ones usually work for a while at least). The tank has been setup for two years or so and the inhabitants and rock/sand came from a system that was established in my 90 gallon reef and a few previous tanks for around 2 year previous-so basically a 4 year old tank...

TIA
Dan

Hi Dan!

Well I don't think there is a such thing of providing too much light however there are other concerns. First of all, do you remember Hilojack who had 1000w over his tank? I think it was a 54 corner or maybe a 72 bow, either way he had lots of light!

The other concerns your aware of I am sure, heat and evaporation from the heat. If you can contend with these issues successfully I don't see where there would be any problems.

My one question, how would you fit them both over the tank?

Regards friend,
Scott Z.

thanks for the reply Scott.. As for fitting them over the tank. Iam going to make both my reflectors into one longer one that fits the lengths of the hood, and then just put them side by side and spacing out as much as possible.. Iam not sure if 2 4" fans will work for heat though? I current;y am running some of those noisy 4" fans from marinedepot I'd like to get a few Ice caps for this hood though and put the 4" maybe on the Ballast since its taking up the entire floor of the stand..

Bamm Bamm,

Unfortunately I don't have a good answer for the light quantity question you had, but I wanted to ask you about your 250 Hellolights bulb. How would you describe the color and is there anyway you could post a pic. Do you need any actinic (or any blue) supplement with it, or is it fine by itself? Thanks,

Tim

You definately don't need any actinic lighting with it. You know My sis just bought a bad ass 4 megapixel digital camera I'll snap a few shots of it one night this week and post them-the color is really nice. It definatel doesn't ned anymore actinic.. I'll post some pics this week for everyone.. I need to clean the glass first the tank has a bit of algae around it.

Oh yeah remember also the bulb hasn't burnt in yet I just changed it out friday at lunch time..So I'll wait a few days to take the pic then the bulb should be burned in.. It's alot duller in color than the iwasaki but a really beautiful bluish-white

Bamm Bamm,

Where you been?! Still there in the delta-land area? Anyway, I have seen those lamps tested, and the PAR value was pretty darn low. I would recommend running two of them to give some good light.

I have to go back and check the spectral signature...but just because its blue, doesn't necessarily mean is has light in the actinic range.

Later Man,

Perry

I need to order another fan they'll I'll be running dual 250's.. All the colors look good but You can never have too much light.. I think I need to weed out my tank before I add the other bulb though because I have mushrooms and poly[s and stuff everywhere in there..
