10k vs. 20k Experiment (Pics)

I chose to have one of each because I had already had the pendent and didn't need to buy a second complete system so went with a reflector setup to go with the pendent I already had. If I was starting from scratch at that point I would have gotten two of the same, likely a pair of reflectors with the SE mogul bulbs. They give off similar light as the double ended and are cheaper

If you're running normal SE bulbs, does the fact that the ballast is for HQI bulbs affect anything?

The HQI runs the bulbs about 20% or so brighter and slightly more blue (at least with the 400W 10,000K Ushio bulbs). I have both types of PFO ballasts and have played around with the Radium and Ushio bulbs trying them with both ballasts.

The 10000k SE bulb on an HQI ballast will probably put out about 20% more intense lighting than if it were on a standard ballast. That is why I use them. That combo tends to give me the best coloration and growth for my liking
