LN ballast versus "New" IceCap
Well, I just got one of the "New" 250 watt IceCap MH ballasts today. I really like it! I have a DIY double-ended AB 10000 K setup using the LN electronic ballast. I figured it was a good idea to have a backup ballast or two and right now the price is right on them.
The 10000 K bulbs were a little more yellow than I expected (with the LN ballast), although I was happy with them. I just figured I'd try something new... Anyways, the bulbs seem whiter (less yellow) and somewhat brighter on the IceCap... I can't post pics (no camera), but it is noticable both with and without 440 watts of VHO... I tried wiring it to each of the bulbs with the same effect on each one, and one is about 2 months older than the other... I think I'm going to get another and use the LN ballasts as backups... Just some info for anyone considering a new electronic MH ballast... James |

hmmmm very ineresteing, BTW when you set them up you have the bulbs oriented in teh same position correct? i.e. if you put a maek on the bulb and had it poiting toward teh water with one ballast did you make sure you faced it towards teh water with the oterh ballast?
Bulbs will change color if you change position |

Yes, the bulbs were in the same orientation- the 250 watt DE bulbs can only be mounted one way unless you mount the socket or position the pendent in a screwy way.
