Naser,

How wide is your hood opening? We don't run 72" bulbs, but I can give you the break down for a 46.5" setup.

The URI 46.5" VHO bulbs are actually about 45.5" long pin-to-pin.
The 3 piece VHO caps take another 1/2" each.

So our VHO setup from cap end to cap end is right at 46.5". As long as the 72" setup follows suit, you should be right at 72" which is very tight for a standard 6 foot hood. That's why we went with the 46.5" over our 48" tank.

Sounds tight at 3/8" clearance on each end, but should be close. For a final confirmation, give Bryan at HelloLights a call. He could verify the overall length for you before ordering. It would be a good sanity check...

Remember to leave room on the ends for buld changes In my canopy the 46.5's would fit but it was too tight to change tubes, so I had to back down to 36".

Good Luck

Unhappy Seems I am not allowed to edit my own post....

Spelling of "bulb" was creative, eh? Or maybe I am just increasing my post count

I wish it was that simple for me...

Naser,

For most situations you are definitely correct, unfortunately a straight pull down is not possible with my canopy due to the rim keeping it on the top of the tank I could have taken all 4 out and pushed them to one side, but it would have been such a pain they would be in there for many many years beyond their useful life.

Bottom line: just make sure that you can service them, as well as fit them in

Well I have your VHO set you sold me Naser. It fits in my canopy.

If you want some new and used (2-3 month) VHO's 72" then just email me. You can have them for free considering I just sold off the ballast.

Oh, I think I have the acrylic standoff if you need them. Only one pair left though.
