Will a M58 ballast drive the Ushio and AB 10kK mogul base bulbs correctly? What I want to do is use a standard PFO 250W ballast to drive the Ushio/AB bulb and have VHO actinic supplementation. I'm worried that the ballast may turn the bulb on, but it will appear yellow.
Please respond and thanks, Dave

It will work but isn't the proper ballast. Most people do use that ballast though, and coloration isn't too bad. The lack of the ignitor defintely won't prolong lamp life, but it seems to work well most of the time.

Neither of my 250w AB 10000K bulbs would stay lit on a M58 ballast. I use electronic ballasts for them now.
